Have your say on the alternative bus stop proposals on Park Road.
Following the original consultation, decisions on 4 bus stop changes in Miramar were deferred for further review. The alternative proposal is now open for feedback before a final decision is made. We are asking for your feedback on the proposed changes below.
Bus stop changes:

Park Road (at Brussels Street) stops 7235 and 6235: Bus stops to be retained and extended

Park Road (near Byron Street) stops 7234 and 6234: Bus stops to be removed.
Parking changes:

Park Road (at Brussels Street) stops 7235 and 6235: Remove approximately 4 parking spaces

Park Road (near Byron Street) stop 6234 (bus stop proposed to be removed): Add approximately 2 parking spaces

Park Road stops 7234 (bus stop proposed to be removed): Add a school drop-off zone

Location: This is for the length of kerb between the driveways to #34 and #36 Park Road, approximately 3 parking spaces

Restriction type: Duration: 10 minutes; Times: 8:30am to 9:00am and 2:45pm to 3:15pm; Days: Mon – Fri, during the school term only.

This consultation will focus only on the 11 deferred bus stops in Hataitai, Kilbirnie and Miramar, not the wider Eastern Bus Corridor improvements that have already been approved.

Stops 7235 – Park Road at Brussels Street (inbound)
Original proposal: Remove the stop to improve bus journey efficiency.
Alternative proposal: Bus stop to be retained and extended to match the new increased bus box and taper standards.
Explanation for change: Public feedback indicated the current location, and proximity of this stop to the Miramar Central School, Miramar Medical Centre and shops near the corner of Brussels St and Park Road were critical to residents.
Stop 6235 – Park Road at Brussels Street (outbound)
Original proposal: Remove the stop improve bus journey efficiency.
Alternative proposal: Bus stop to be retained in its current location and extended to accommodate additional or longer buses.
Explanation for change: Public feedback indicated the current location, and proximity of this stop to the Miramar Central School, Miramar Medical Centre and shops near the corner of Brussels St and Park Road were critical to residents.
Stops 7234 – Park Road at Byron Street outside Miramar Central School (inbound)
Original proposal: Retain the stop at its current location, with bus stop lengthened.
Alternative proposal: Bus stop to be removed.
Explanation for change: With the bus stops at the Park Rd/Brussels St corner now proposed to remain in place, the Park Rd/Byron St stops would be better removed as the bus stops near Park Rd/Brussels St intersection and at the Miramar Village shops have adequate facility.
Stop 6234 – Park Road at Byron Street outside Miramar Central School (outbound)
Original proposal: Retain the stop at its current location and relocate bus shelter to front of the stop.
Alternative proposal: Bus stop to be removed.
Explanation for change: With the bus stops at the Park Rd/Brussels St corner now proposed to remain in place, the Park Rd/Byron St stops would be better removed as the bus stops near Park Rd/Brussels St intersection and at the Miramar Village shops have adequate facility.

These are the original proposals consulted on in June 2026, including bus stop changes that have now been approved and the original proposals for the 4 Miramar bus stops currently being consulted on.

Changes for these stops include:
- Removing this pair of stops to improve the efficiency of bus journeys. This results in 3 new unrestricted parking spaces where stop 7235 was and 2 where stop 6235 was.

- Extending both stops and relocating a shelter.

Changes for the intersection include:

Removal of the left‑turn lane on the western roundabout approach, reducing it to a single‑lane approach (i.e. removing the left turn lane)

Reduction in the size of kerb build‑outs

Widening of the departure lane to support bus turning movements
This will require some civil works.

- Retaining stops at current location, with minor changes to positioning to improve stop sizing, and new extended bus platforms.

- Removing both stops and existing shelter. This results in 2 new parking spaces being added at the site of each removed stop.

Changes for these stops include:
- Retaining and lengthening both stops, adding entry and exit tapers and a new bus shelter.

Changes for these stops include:
- Relocating stop 7033, with significant intersection and kerb layout changes to better support bus movements heading to/from the Kauri St depot and Seatoun.
